Inbrief,Irememberwatchingthisseriesandbeingabsolutelyblownaway,ItwassopowerfulIcanstillrememberitindetail.InmyopinionitisamongstthebestworktheBBChaveeverproducedandIamextremelysaddenedthatveryfewpeopleexperiencedthesamejoyIdidfromthisseries.Ithink"Beethoven"hasbecomealostgemandIwillusetheremainderofthisusercommenttoarguemycase. Theserieswasbeautifullyphotographedanddirected.Theserieswasfilledwithabeautifullydesaturatedpalette(withaprominentochreforinteriorscenes)whichgaveastark,imposingtemperament.Alongwiththistherewerewonderfulintersectionswithdiffusesofagedyetcolourfulsoftfocusimagery,givingaromanticyetnostalgicfeel,likealostlove.Itwasabreathtakingcontrastoftheseromanticdiffuseswithdesaturatedscenes,tomeitevokedBeethoven'sisolationanddifficultytokeepagriponreality. Thestoryanddialoguewasfantasticallywellwritten.Itpowerfullyevokedtheturmoil,isolationanddespairofBeethoven.Itwasahighlyaccuratehistoricalportrayalalongwithacaliberandsophisticationofwritingwhichseemedtotranscendit'shistoricalobligationsgivingahighlyemotional,grittyandmovingexperience.
